Animal Partyyyyyy!

(1 customer review)

A “tower” of giraffes stood tall on the plains, planning a party to welcome the rains. During her 20 years living in Africa, Cristina Kessler observed and photographed many animal groups on countless safaris. Cristina’s spirited and playful tale features father Twiga, his family group, and sixteen animal groups she named for their characteristics such as the “crash” of rhinos, the “pride” of lions, the cheetah “coalition”, a “barrel” of monkeys, a flying hawk “boil” and many more. They are brought to life through Armand Adodokpo’s vibrant, dynamic and colorful artwork. A perfect picture book for reading aloud, children will travel through a fun lively safari, learn about the names of each group of animals, and welcome the rains with Twiga and his family group on the plains of Africa.

Description

I am happy to say that during my 20 years in Africa, on more safaris than I can count, I saw all of these animal groups – except the quiver. I love that the animal groups are named for characteristics, like the crash of rhinos. I think the name comes from the fact that rhinos have very poor eyesight, so maybe they crash into one another whenever they meet. A tower is also appropriate for a group of giraffes, and the leap perfectly describes the leopard.

Can you figure out how each group got its name?

I hope you have fun reading this book, so when you get to go on safari one day you’ll know all the animal group names.

Thanks for joining me at the animal partyyyyyy!

To my best friend and husband, Joe.
